Comments & Suggestions on No.328

By Kim, Sang-hyun (Dept. of Classical Chinese, Junior) 기자2008.09.01 00:00:00

Two magazine editions of The KNU Times have been published and the 1st semester of 2008 has also passed by. The KNU Times has been responding to criticism and drawing on wide sources of information during that time, so I’d like to suggest my opinions and about the magazine format. The KNU Times (No.328) came up to my expectations with its rich contents. There is a saying, "Give credit where credit is due." Reborn as a lovely magazine, The KNU Times is attracting more regular subscribers and positioning itself as a subject of conversation.

Law schools have started in Korea, after facing many problems. In the "Cover Story" section, the topic of law schools makes us think of many issues. KNU has launched an "IT&Law Studies" school receiving a quota of 120 students and this is a current issue for KNU students as a whole. The Korean law school system is proceeding by trial and error, hoping to find the most appropriate solution by means of this process. If it is to go forward in the right direction, it needs to ensure the law services market after the FTA is ratified. As the article on "Knunity Community" and "People" says, "drawing a road map of the future life is important." Our government and law school students should look to the future and strengthen our international competitive power.

In the section called "+You", there was an introduction about the Seoul World DJ Festival. The title ‘Join the heat and feel the beat!" motivated me to join the festival, but by the time the magazine appeared (No.328 came out on May 6), the festival was already over! Some of my friends were also disappointed at that time. I realize that The KNU Times is a quarterly published magazine, giving a wealth of helpful information, for which I’m grateful. However, in an information-oriented society, offering information in good time for other people is more important than offering common knowledge. Related to this point, The KNU Times needs to make full use of its web-site because the web-site is available to us all the year around. This offers a good chance to share hot information with all the readers. Posting hot news about concerts and exhibitions will make The KNU Times an on-line and off-line information venue. Furthermore, the "Gourmet in Daegu" and "Hot Spot" sections would benefit from a kind of "letters to the editor" on the web-site. People could recommend various gourmet theme or unforgettable good places, based on their experiences. Moreover, reporters could choose a suitable letter and write an article on it. In my opinion, sharing precious memories with readers is the best way to gain their affections.

The article styles of The KNU Times are very clear and somewhat simple. In addition unlike many other newspapers, this magazine avoids overstatement or heroic words. The KNU Times should be praised for being sincere. I"m sure the tough work undergone by the reporters and editors has resulted in the magazine that The KNU Times has today.

I"ve enjoyed sharing my comments and suggestions about The KNU Times. I hope that our school students will get more helpful information from The KNU Times. I"m really happy and proud of having this memorable opportunity to offer my opinions. Thank you.
