I usually buy clothes on the internet shopping mall or shops on the road. Expensive clothes do not make fashion by themselves. Sometimes two people in the same clothes look totally different because of the way they wear them. After you do your hair and put on well-matched accessories and makeup, you finally look stylish. A sense of style helps us to cover the shortcomings of our body shape. To be well-dressed, find your own fashion style. You may have to undergo trial and error, but look carefully at the clothes in the shopping malls or the people in the street. Be diligent and you will become a person of fashion. When people become concerned with fashion, I think there is no one who can’t be attractive.

Kim Da-Eun, Dep. of Education, Senior

I don’t spend that much time choosing clothes in the morning. Getting dressed in a short time isn’t difficult for me because I already have my own style. I like to wear layered clothes such as a tight-fitting T-shirt with a cardigan. Since I enjoy unique and striking designs, I buy clothes decked with skulls, wings, roses, wolves, and so on. Also I am concerned with accessories, especially rings and watches and my hair style. Changing hair style refreshes me and accessories are special points in my outfit. I don’t feel like following the latest trend. Even if something is really famous, it is not necessarily my style.

Lee Han-Kyeol, Dep. of Philosophy, Junior

I prefer black clothes. When I buy clothes, I choose what catches my eye and what feels attractive. There is no particular style which I pursue and I just wear things on a whim. I fix my hair by applying Pomade (hair grease) because it is popular among men these days. I am glad that the clothes of KNU students have became more varied compared to 2010. In my opinion, wearing what we want, regardless of what other people think, is the best personal fashion. You don’t need to worry about others’ views too much.

Shi Hanli, Exchange Student, from China

I think Korean girls wear very beautiful clothes when they go to school and some of them wear high-heels and put on heavy make-up. In China, not many girls wear heavy make-up as much as in Korea. For me, the most important factor when choosing clothes is ‘situation’ - where you go and what you do. When I go to a party or club, I pick up something fancy, but for classes I wear casual attire to pay attention to the lectures. Sometimes I prefer to buy brand-new clothes instead of cheaper clothes, but the first criterion for choosing clothes is suitability.

Jamie Hurst, Exchange Student, from United Kingdom

In the UK, I own my clothing brand. When I design something, I try to make it comfortable and use materials of good quality. The quality of the material is one of the main aspects when I buy something: how good the T shirt material is or how good the denim is. I think the majority of people in here, Korea, wear for comfort. In UK, a lot of girls are interested in fashion. They really like buying clothes. Also, London is one of the famous cities for fashion. If you wear a dress in a quiet area in the UK, people may think you are weird. But with the same clothes, in London, you would be normal or boring. Nothing is strange.

Adrian McPherson, Writing Assistant, International Writing Center

I usually wear a classic style such as things with simple colors. I think in that way you can never look bad. When choosing clothes, every factor should be considered equally. The clothes shouldn’t be too cheap or too expensive, and shouldn’t be too modern or too old-fashioned. People think that your character depends on your clothes. If you are tired or having a bad day, you may think ‘I’ll just put on any clothes. It doesn’t matter.’ However it does matter, because it can give negative images to people you meet. If you want people to treat you better, you had better look good.

1.     Clothes should be comfortable and practical.

2.     Suitable clothes for each situation.

3.     Use accessories to stand out.

4.     Find your own style and enjoy it no matter what others think.
